Μία θεματική που ξεκίνησε κατά την διάρκεια της στρατιωτικής θητείας, μέσα από σχέδια – ημερολόγιο ιδεών ενός νεοσύστατου στον στρατιωτικό κόσμο της παράνοιας. Πρωτοπαρουσιάστηκε το 2008 ως μία εγκατάσταση σχεδίων και φωτογραφιών, μία προσπάθεια καταγραφής της έννοιας, Ελληνικός Στρατός – Πατρίδα.
Στην ουσία το State Of Emergency είναι ένα εικονικό κράτος που ιδρύθηκε για πρώτη φορά στα πλαίσια της Θητείας ως ιδέα στο μυαλό, ώστε να μπορέσω να δικαιολογήσω την παράνοια που ονομάζετε Ελληνικός Στρατός.
Να μπορέσω να αφομοιώσω τις άνευ λόγου πράξεις και διαταγές, τις ανούσιες καταστάσεις που βίωνα καθημερινά σε έναν κόσμο που δεν ήξερα ότι μπορεί ακόμα να υπάρχει.
Το State Of Emergency είναι το δικό μου κράτος.
Ένα κράτος εν κράτη που ιδρυτής και διοικητής του είμαι εγώ. Το ίδρυσα με σκοπό να δράσω μέσα από αυτό ως μια προσωπικότητα, μια περσόνα που εμφανίζετε για να σχολιάσει, να κατακρίνει, να προτείνει να βοηθήσει όσο μπορεί, να ολοκληρώσει ή να ανασυγκροτήσει, ακόμα και να απορρίψει ή να αναδημιουργήσει τον όρο Πατρίδα.
Στην εγκατάσταση αυτή στα πλαίσια της έκθεσης, σκοπός είναι να καταγραφούν, οι χαμένες εκτάσεις , που κάποτε ήταν στρατόπεδα και τώρα φιλοξενούν εγκαταλελειμμένες στρατιωτικές εγκαταστάσεις. Κοιτώντας τον χάρτη της πόλης και συγκρίνοντάς τις εκτάσεις αυτές με άλλες εκτάσεις από άλλες πόλεις, παρόμοιου μεγέθους αλλά σίγουρα τελείως διαφορετικής λειτουργίας, συνειδητοποιείς την έλλειψη ευθυνών από την πολιτεία.
Μέρη τις εγκατάστασης.
1.Τραπέζι εκστρατείας : Ο χάρτης της πόλης, ακουμπισμένος στο τραπέζι εκστρατείας. Οι κινήσεις τις εισβολής του State Of Emergency , με σκοπό την λύτρωση της πόλης, σημειώνονται με κίτρινες σημαίες (το χρώμα – έμβλημα του κράτους). Λευκοί οβελίσκοι στήνονται στα μέρη – στρατόπεδα που καταλαμβάνονται με σκοπό την ανέγερση πανεπιστημίων, νοσοκομείων, μουσείων κ.α.
2.Μελέτη: Αεροφωτογραφίες , με βοήθεια δορυφόρου καταγράφουν τις εκτάσεις από τα πρώην στρατόπεδα καθώς και εκτάσεις από άλλες χώρες, στις οποίες φιλοξενούνται μουσεία, πανεπιστήμια όπως το Memorial hospital την Νέας Υόρκης, το πανεπιστήμιο της Οξφόρδης κ.α. Η ταύτιση των δύο εκτάσεων μας δίνουν μια εικόνα του τι θα μπορούσαν να φιλοξενήσουν αυτές οι χαμένες εκτάσεις, αν πραγματικά θέλαμε.
3.Το έμβλημα του State Of Emergency καθώς και η προσωπογραφία του ηγέτη, ως ηγέτης της χώρας και λυτρωτής της πόλης.
Εξωτερικές Δράσεις.
Στα πλαίσια της έκθεσης, το διαδραστικό κομμάτι της εγκαταστάσεως State Of Emergency, είναι η κατάληψη αυτών των εκτάσεων και η κατοχύρωση τους μέσω της συμβολικής πράξης, της τοιχοκόλλησης του εμβλήματος του S.O.F , στις πύλες των στρατοπέδων.
This theme took shape during my military service through the drawings/journal of ideas of a newcomer to the military world of paranoia. It was first presented in 2008 as an installation of drawings and photographs, an attempt to record the concept of Hellenic Army – Fatherland. Basically, the State of Emergency is a virtual state that was first founded in the framework of my Military Service as an idea, in order for me to be able to justify the paranoia known as the Hellenic Army; to be able to absorb the acts and orders executed for no reason at all; the insipid circumstances that I experienced everyday in a world that I did not know could still exist.
The State of Emergency is my state, a state within a state, founded and governed by me.
I founded it so that I could act through it as a personality, a persona that emerges to comment, criticise and offer to help as much as possible to integrate or reconstitute, or even to reject or recreate the term ‘Fatherland’. The purpose of this installation in the framework of the exhibition is to record the lost spaces that were once army camps and are now home to abandoned military facilities. When looking at the map of the city and comparing these spaces with other spaces having a completely different function in other cities of almost the same size, one cannot help but realise the lack of responsibility of the part of the state.
Parts of the installation.
1.Campaign table: The map of the city lying on the campaign table. The invasion strategy of the State of Emergency, which aims at liberating the city, is marked with yellow flags (the colour-emblem of the state). White obelisks are placed on the spots-army camps that will be occupied in order to build universities, hospitals, museums, etc.
2.Study: Aerial photographs taken through a satellite record the spaces of the former army camps, as well as spaces in other countries that house museums and hospitals such as the Memorial Hospital in New York, the University of Oxford, etc. The identification of the two spaces gives us a picture of what these lost spaces could house if we truly desired it.
3.The emblem of the State of Emergency and the portrait of the leader, as the leader of the country and saviour of the city.
External Actions
In the framework of the exhibition, the interactive part of the installation titled State of Emergency involves occupying these spaces and claiming them through the symbolic act of posting the S.O.F. emblem on the army camp gates.
